Why Adoption?
It is really hard to wish for something that you already have. We have our daughter. We tried so hard to have a biological family of our own. After three rounds of IUI and two rounds of IVF, it wasn’t meant for us. The longing to add to our family, the desire for Robin to be a mother in her own right, the hope to give Layla a sibling…all of these led us closer to adoption.
“Destiny is what you are supposed to do, yet fate makes sure you do it.” Adoption has been a recurring conversation long before our struggle. Robin’s cousin was adopted. We had a moment in which we knew adoption was meant for us. Our initial consultation was set in advance. While waiting, Robin’s aunt, the mother of her cousin, lost her battle with cancer. Her funeral was the day of that initial meeting to make the decision about moving forward with adoption. The sermon that day spoke of the love that she and Robin’s uncle gave so freely to their daughter. As fate would have it, these events coinciding were not by coincidence. Thanks to that sign from Robin’s Aunt J, here we are.
