Why we are Adopting
Forming a family has been part of our discussion since early in our relationship, both knowing that we desired to be parents and have a large family someday. Andy and his brother were both adopted at birth, and have always had a positive view of adoption. Andy’s personal experience with adoption and our experiences working with children through our occupations, adoption has been discussed frequently in our home. Andy is a math teacher, and Meridith is a speech-language pathologist for local school systems. We were so fortunate to welcome our biological son over three years ago, but due to many complications with Meridith’s pregnancy, were advised not to pursue another pregnancy. We immediately knew that this would be our opportunity to expand our family through adoption. We are open to adopting a child of any race or gender. We know that family is made through love, and is not contingent on our differences. We will incorporate our adopted child’s race into our present home environment of love and acceptance, and celebrate all of our family’s unique qualities.
