We are pursuing adoption because we want to be parents and we have been unable to have children. We both have fond memories of our childhood and hope to create similar experiences for a child. These experiences include visiting the zoo, parks and children’s museums. We are excited to watch a child explore and learn. We want to help with homework, go hiking with a child and teach a child how to swim and ride a bike. We also want to spend time together at the lake, watch drive-in movies, make s’mores, gaze at the stars, celebrate the holidays and travel the world with a child. We wish to share our families’ annual traditions of tapping the maple trees in the spring, kayaking on the lake, spending time with family and friends at the clambake, and picking apples in the fall. In short, we are pursuing adoption because we have a desire to be a loving family to a child.
Our hearts are open to adopting a child of any race or nationality. Rebecca’s father is Filipino and her mother is Caucasian. Her family observes Filipino and American traditions and we spend meaningful time with each side of her family. We were raised in families where we were taught to explore, celebrate, appreciate and respect racial and cultural diversity. Our families and friends have adopted internationally and inter-racially.
