Why Adoption?
Adoption has never been a second choice for us. Shana has planned to adopt children since she was in high school. After Shana had major health concerns with her pregnancy, it confirmed that adoption was the right path. We adopted our daughter in 2020 and in 2023 we both decided that we didn’t feel our family was complete and wanted to adopt again. The meaning of adoption has changed for us with experience. We have built a deep connection with Nola’s birth parents and consider them family. Each of our children is loved in a unique way, but there is no difference in the amount of love we have for our genetic child and our adopted child. The same will be true with a future adopted child. Shana’s views of adoption were deeply influenced by her grandmother who was adopted as a small child and did not connect with her birth family until she was older.
