Why Adoption?
We always dreamed of having a big family, but after secondary infertility and medical complications with our second pregnancy, Jamie was advised by her doctors not to have any more children. We were utterly heartbroken, and couldn’t believe that our dream had been shattered. We quickly decided on adoption as a way to grow our family because of our family’s history with adoption.
Jamie learned firsthand that blood does not define a family, because Ray and his family loved and accepted her just as she was. Mike’s paternal grandmother was abandoned on the streets of Chicago as a child and may not have survived the winter if she wasn’t adopted by a young family.
We define a family as a group of people who chose to be committed to loving each other and growing together throughout life’s adventures. Our definition of family is perhaps non traditional, but it works for us!
Ray is not related to us by blood, but he is our children’s grandfather. Our friends are our family. Mike’s family tree wouldn’t exist without the caring act of adoption. To have the chance to continue the legacy of adoption in our lives is the highest honor. We will cherish the opportunity to add your child to our family!
