Building Blocks Adoption Service, Inc. provides independent and private adoption services. With birth parents contacting our agency directly we assist birth parents with finding the right family for their unborn child. Once the match occurs the adoptive family and birth parents will work with our agency as well as an adoption attorney to complete their adoption process. We can also assist those families who come to us with a match in place already. The same services are needed for a family and birth parents whether our agency assists with the actual match or not.
Our agency will guide birth parents and adoptive parents through the adoption process and explain their options to ensure they are fully informed about the process itself.
We will assist both parties with creating an adoption plan, discuss open vs. closed adoption, complete the required ODJFS paperwork, set up an escrow account to manage birth parent expenses, provide birth parent counseling and refer to legal counsel.
In an independent adoption, the birth parent gives consent to the adoption of his or her child directly to the adoptive parents. Legal custody of the child passes directly from the birth parents to the adoptive parents. This is all processed any time after 72 hours following the birth of the child within the probate court.
